Book clubs and recommendations offered at Hartford Public Library

African American Literature Book Club The AAL Book Club.

The AAL Book Club, formed in 2018, is for anyone interested in reading and discussing African American literature, both fiction and nonfiction, as well as sharing information and learning about the African American experience. At this time, the AAL Book Club meets on Zoom, most months on the fourth Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Titles to read are suggested by any member; discussions are facilitated by the member who suggested the book. To register, please email memwhite@gmail.com

February 27: Joe Turner's Come and Gone, by August Wilson. Facilitator:  Marcy Hinckley.

March 26: Crook Manifesto, by Colson Whitehead. Facilitators:  Bonny Johnson and Barbara Swec.

April 22: The Unsettled, by Ayana Mathis. Facilitator: Iris Branch.

May 28: The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, by James McBride. Facilitator: Deckie Jeffers.

June 25: How Do you Say Babylon: A Memoir, by Safiya Sinclair. Facilitator: Patrick Hamilton.
