Use this guide to help our community to further individual and communities’ knowledge of and/or skills related to health literacy, and/or understanding of clinical medical research.

Local Resources

211 Connecticut: Search for health and human services. You may fill out the HealthyLives Navigator to identify resources that match your or a loved one's needs or call 211 on the phone to speak with a specialist. 

HEALTH.CT.GOV: Find information on health-related services and check your eligibility for state benefits. 

Department of Health and Addiction ServicesProvides descriptions and contact information for services offered by the state. 

The VillageProvides a full range of behavioral health, early childhood and youth development, substance use treatment and support services for children, adults and families.  

National Organizations and Resources

All of Us: Learn how to judge a health claim and the importance of health equity. 

Alianza Nacional para la Salud Hispana: Provides information in English and Spanish. Includes details about a phone helpline (Espanol and English) that provides confidential information on navigating the health system. 

American Diabetes Association: Provides tools and tips on lifestyle choices for preventing and living with diabetes. Of special note is the What's New? feature.

American Heart Association: Click on the Health Topics tab for information on a variety of heart related health conditions.    

ClinicalTrials.gov: If you are interested in participating in a medical clinical study be sure to learn what is involved. 

Mental Health America: Find resources on getting help for yourself or a loved one. Learn about a variety of mental health conditions or topics such as BIPOC Mental Health, tips for parents on bullying, and coping with the stress of military deployment.
