Hartford Public Library | Downtown | 500 Main St., Hartford Monday-Thursday: 9am - 6pm Friday & Saturday: 9am - 5pm
Visits to the library are currently limited to one visit per day, up to 90 minutes, and can only be made for the following services:
You can borrow library books, DVDs, audiobooks, and music CDs by using our new Contact-free Pick up Service.
Place holds on the items you want, then schedule an appointment to pick them up.
At this time, browsing the library collection is not permitted. We hope to reopen the stacks to the public soon.
You can return library materials to the outdoor book return bins at the following branches: Albany, Park, Dwight, Camp Field, and Downtown. Please do not bring any books into the library. Returned books are quarantined for 4 days before they are re-shelved. Please note that recently returned books will not be taken off your record for 4 days, but they will be back-dated when checked in, so no fines will accrue for books returned on time.
1. Search the library catalog to find the items you want or use our request form and let us pick for you.
2. Place a hold on the item(s)
3. After you are notified that your items are ready to be picked up, you must schedule a pick up time. Instructions on how to do this will be included in the notification you receive.
