How do I request a renewal on items I have borrowed?

If your items have not been placed on hold by another patron, they will automatically renew at midnight the evening of the due date.

To request a renewal, call us at 860-695-6300 or renew your items online by logging in to your account here.

If materials checked out in your name are overdue, you may not renew items online without first paying the accumulated fine.

What are the overdue charges on materials?

NEW!! There are no fines for overdue materials, so long as materials are returned within one week of exhausting all renewal or automatic renewal options. If you have library materials that are long overdue, just return them--your late fines will be removed.

Customers will be billed for the replacement of the item if the item is not returned. For claims returned items that are not located, bills for replacement of the item are sent after 60 days.

Customers are responsible for all materials checked out on their account and any fees or bills that accrue. Failure to receive a notification does not eliminate responsibility for replacement costs. If you lose your library card, contact the library to be sure no one else can use your card.

Can I borrow new materials if I owe the Library replacement fees for outstanding items?

Anyone who has been billed for an item that was not returned to the Library will not be able to borrow books and other materials until the outstanding bill is paid or the material is returned. Payment can be made in person or online: https://hplct.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/default/. Click "My Account" at the top of the page, then select the Fines tab.
