Juan Fuentes-Vizcarrondo (1932-2015)

Photographer, Journalist, Teacher, Artist

Fuentes was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, on July 18, 1932. He left Puerto Rico for New York in 1963 and came to Hartford shortly after. He was known for his photography, particularly his documentation of the Puerto Rican community of Hartford. Fuentes' art was exhibited locally, nationally and in Puerto Rico; he published his journalistic and photographic work in community and major newspapers. He worked with Hartford schools and community organizations and he taught photography to students and seniors.

Fuentes nació en Humacao, Puerto Rico, el 18 de julio de 1932. Dejó Puerto Rico para Nueva York en 1963 y llegó a Hartford poco después. Era conocido por su fotografía, particularmente por su documentación de la comunidad puertorriqueña de Hartford. El arte de Fuentes fue exhibido localmente, nacionalmente y en Puerto Rico; Publicó su trabajo periodístico y fotográfico en la comunidad y en los principales periódicos. Trabajó con escuelas de Hartford y organizaciones comunitarias y enseñó fotografía a estudiantes y personas mayores.
