Beloved by the Latino community in Hartford, Reverend Julie Ramirez became the First Latina Pentecostal Senior Pastor within the Spanish Eastern District of the Assemblies of God when she founded Templo Fe church in Hartford in 1962. She was born in 1931 in Manhattan, NYC, and was raised in Newburg, NY. After working in the corporate world, she felt a spiritual call to start a church congregation and came to Hartford, where she held services for 53 years until she passed away in October of 2016. Ramirez dedicated much of her work to improving the surrounding community.  Her ministry allowed Templo Fe to become a place of fellowship for the Latino community in Frog Hollow during a time when they faced discrimination and injustice within what was in the early years, a predominantly white neighborhood. 

Outside of Templo Fe, Reverend Julie Ramirez was widely involved in other areas of Hartford.  She encouraged the workers of Hartford Hospital to translate important healthcare documents into Spanish. This gave the Latino community access to vital information about their healthcare. Ramirez also created services to engage with the Latino incarcerated population in Connecticut, and her work gave them the opportunity to lead an active religious life. Additionally, Ramirez was an interpreter and translator for the Connecticut Superior Court to aid Spanish-speaking individuals. Because of that, individuals she supported better understood their legal proceedings and had more access to securing their human rights. Throughout her fifty plus years as the leader of Templo Fe, Reverend Julie Ramirez worked tirelessly to unite and better the Hartford community, challenge systemic injustices within the broader Hartford area, and impact individual lives in her community through her faith-based approach.

Amada por la comunidad latina de Hartford, la reverenda Julie Ramírez se convirtió en la primera pastora principal pentecostal latina en el Distrito Hispano Este de las Asambleas de Dios cuando fundó la iglesia Templo Fe en Hartford en 1962. Nació en 1931 en Manhattan, Nueva York, y se crió en Newburg, Nueva York. Después de trabajar en el mundo corporativo, sintió un llamado espiritual para iniciar una congregación en la iglesia y vino a Hartford, donde realizó servicios durante 53 años hasta que falleció en octubre de 2016. Ramírez dedicó gran parte de su trabajo a mejorar la comunidad circundante. Ramírez también creó servicios para interactuar con la población latina encarcelada en Connecticut, y su trabajo les dio la oportunidad de llevar una vida religiosa activa. Además, Ramírez fue intérprete y traductora del Tribunal Superior de Connecticut para ayudar a las personas de habla hispana. Por eso, las personas a las que apoyaba entendían mejor sus procedimientos legales y tenían más acceso a la protección de sus derechos humanos. A lo largo de sus más de cincuenta años como líder de Templo Fe, la reverenda Julie Ramírez trabajó incansablemente para unir y mejorar la comunidad de Hartford, desafiar las injusticias sistémicas dentro del área más amplia de Hartford e impactar vidas individuales en su comunidad a través de su enfoque basado en la fe.
